Ribs

My man can make some ribs!  These are the ribs he made for the day my family arrived for Christmas.  The great part about living in Houston is that it is ALWAYS grilling weather.

My mouth is already watering.  I am thinkin' this Super  Bowl weekend is going to be a rib weekend!  AND the best part is that I can PARTAKE and not get sick!   WOO HOO!!

Harses, Harses, Harses, Harses!

Unfortunately for anyone in our family that has the desire to ride horses, they will not be able to and live with us at the same time.  Babe is terribly allergic, as is sweet JBS.  One might think you can go ride horses and they would never suffer not being participants.  Au Contraire!  They are so sensitive, they react to the dander on anyone, even far removed from their pets.  So, when JLS was lucky enough to go to a party where they rode horses, he had to come home, strip down in the utility and immediately take a shower and wash his hair so JBS  and Babe wouldn't start a sneezing fit.

JLS was in heaven.  He absolutely loved riding the horses and he rode them again, and again, and again.

Make those memories last, buddy!

Christmas Day Storm

A storm blew through Christmas morning.  We had high winds and rain and then...the sun popped out. Thus, we all went outside to play with our new Christmas loot.  It was then that we realized the huge tree in our front yard had split in the storm and it was heading for our house.  Babe and BD to the rescue!  We texted our yard man to see if he could come on the 26th and they strapped the tree together hoping that the next gust of wind didn't blow it onto our house.

Gratefully, our wonderful yard man came to our rescue the day after Christmas.  This was REALLY exciting.  We watched from the upstairs guest room for an hour, as they rigged the tree and cut it down.  Their system was actually impressive.

They secured the broken tree to another large tree in our front yard with ropes.  They pulled it tight and then cut the base of the tree and held it tight to the other tree so it didn't hit our house.

Then, they proceed to cut off 2-3 ft increments from the bottom of the tree and it slowly slid to the ground in a controlled fashion!

And the tree was gone, our house was safe and the excitement was over!

Christmas Morning

We will all admit, we didn't get the best pictures this year.  In the past, I have always depended upon Grammy and Vin to take the pictures, as we always had 3 of everything.  Then, I had little ones, so I just used their pictures.  This year, we just didn't snap as many!

5am...waiting for everyone to wake up so they could go downstairs and see their stockings!

Big Daddy and his 60 year-old old faithful stocking...always bulging withe BD's favorite, dried apricots.

This was WHS' first year to really "Get it".  He was squealing with excitement.

Real Bow and Arrow's for both the big boys.  We loving termed our Christmas as a Duck Dynasty Marathon.  We LOVE Duck Dynasty at our house and introduced it to our family.  We watched at least 20 episodes.  The boys were THRILLED to discover that the Bows were "Duck Dynasty" endorsed.

While the big boys are growing up, there is always my little monkey...

Documentation that Babe received the Salt & Pepper Shaker this year...

Since I didn't get a picture of JBS with his new electric guitar that Santa brought, here is Paulie tuning it for us...

 Present time...

And back to bed we went...

Christmas Eve

This year we switched Christmas up a bit...which we never have done.  When it is my family's turn to have Christmas, we always go to Grammy and Big Daddy's.  This year...everyone came to Houston and we loved having them!

Christmas Eve at the church with the cousins...

The Poinsettia Tree at church...

The tree....

Preparing for Santa to come...

What's that you hear?  Santa is HERE!!
Peeking over the banister to sneak a peek at Santa...

Which chimney did you come down Santa??

Since our indoor fireplace is sealed, Santa left thru the front door and everyone got a glimpse of him!!

Merry!  Merry!

Picking up Da Boys

WHS adores his big brothers.  Each day at 2:30pm, I pick WHS up from school and speed home to get on our bikes and pedal to school to pick up JBS and JLS.  Every time, WHS wants to ride his own bike and every time I have to tell him, "No."  Its far too dangerous for him with all the kids on the path at once.  I always convince him to climb in the trailer, we ride to school, and we park in the same place.

The kindergarteners are not allowed to leave until they see their parents.  So, JLS is usually just lining up on the outside wall when we arrive.  WHS knows exactly where JLS is going to be and he makes a run for it down the long path with his arms opened wide to give his big bro a big hug.  It melts my heart every time.

Even cuter on this day, it was the last day of school before Christmas.  JLS came out proudly wearing his antlers and cute little red reindeer nose.

Love this pumpkin...

Soccer Dude

WHS has been waiting to play soccer for at least 3 months.  I was finally able to sign him up in December for a 3 year-old team that started in January.  This was his BIG DAY!!  He was so excited to put on his shin guards and his cleats, which came from the cleat basket.  {If you can imagine HOW MANY pairs of cleats we have already accumulated to date.  The great part is that WHS thinks it is A-W-E-S-O-M-E to wear JBS and JLS's old clothes and shoes.  In no way does he feel that hand-me-downs are bad and I am LOVING making things like cleats, that get worn for ONE season, make it thru three boys.}

Even more exciting, was getting his very own jersey.

Babe, JBS, and JLS were in Corpus with Cub Scouts spending the night on the USS Lexington.  However, WHS really wanted me to take a picture of his number and send it to his brothers.

When we got home, WHS was pooped.  He spent the entire game running up and down the field only kicking the ball when the coach gave him the opportunity.  He had no idea what he was doing, but he had a smile on his face the entire time.  Given that we are a baseball/football family, he did great not having played soccer before.  When we got home, we sat at the bar together and ate lunch.  And he told me, "Mom, I did great today!"  :)  I told him that he needed to kick the ball and not be afraid to take it away.  He said, "OK Mom.  I will do that next time."  So matter of fact, taking in everything I said.

This morning, JBS called to talk to WHS about his soccer game.  The conversation was precious hearing JBS give WHS instructions on how to play  {JBS never liked soccer himself.}  WHS listened intently.

Next week, JBS and JLS will be at his game and I think that will make a huge difference having his best buddies there to cheer him on.

Pre-School Christmas Program

It just occurred to me that I haven't posted on Christmas!  December was such a blur with taking over Write Away Stationery...I barely came up for air in time for Christmas with my family.  A blessing to have so much business, but it was a bit crazy!
This was our 5th year, I believe, of watching the Christmas program at our wonderful pre-school and it never gets old to hear those sweet voices sing about Jesus.  WHS gave us a bit of a hint when he was practicing.  Babe found his favorite song on iTunes and WHS was in Heaven.  Here it is.. (stick with it after the first couple lines) We had to practice in the car and at home and WHS knew what he was to do.  When the chorus crescendoed in the song, WHS lifted his hands up, just like Ms. Ingrid, and told us to sing LOUD.  Of course, all those sweet little  kids YELLED the song at that point.  And, we had to, as well...

When it came to the actual program, WHS enjoyed more just staring at us and posing for pictures than actually singing.  But he sure was cute...

And this little angel.  This is Owivia.  The famous Owivia and WHS's self-proclaimed best friend.

Another year, another wonderful program for the kiddos.
