So, I have a lot of catching up to do being down for the count for 6 months! Yes, it's crazy, but true. My first surgery was May 2nd. I still managed to get pictures from friends and Babe was Daddy on the spot. It's kind of hard to go back to this time because I was so sad to be missing these things, but even harder because I had no idea what was about to happen to me. That said, God has been so good to us, so faithful, and we are so grateful. Praise the Lord.
JLS and his best buddy LH (to his right) are both very fast little boys. They were instant BFF's when we moved here and LH had only been here for the first semester himself. JLS's first year here was 1st grade and the two of them placed 1st and 2nd ( a toe apart) in the big race on Field Day. Second grade is pictured below. Each day in gym, their teacher would tell me that they would compete against each other. One day LH would win, the next day JLS would. It was friendly competition back and forth.
Field Day is a BIG DEAL here and both boys had their eyes on the prize. JLS had been battling plantar fasciitis type pain, but still gave it his all. When I got the report, I was just as disappointed as the two of them. LH tripped and fell and JLS got 2nd. When I jokingly asked him why he didn't get 1st he said, "beez my heel was hutting". Sweet angel. He continues to struggle with that heel. Hoping its not a lifetime battle. Betting on this year. JLS and LH will sure to be at the top!
The wonderful thing about this friendship is that they are both smart, too. They compete with grades and in the classroom and on the field. His mom and I love it! Nothing better than a little friendly encouragement and competition!
