Big Dentist Accomplishment!

When we go to the dentist, we take over.  We are a force to be reckoned with.  We LOVE our dentist and his office.  When we enter, there are video games and movies in the waiting room.  And when we go to the back, the boys lay on their table and watch a movie on the ceiling with their headphones on.  And when we leave, we always get a bag of goodies.  Dentists these days have it figured out!

Despite all the great attractions, WHS had yet to actually enjoy a trip to the dentist office.  Our last visit, he screamed in my lap.  It was a VERY expensive fit when we discovered we had forgotten to put him on our dental insurance and the dentist HARDLY got a good look at his pearly whites.

This time, we talked it up.  He is going to go watch a movie like the big boys.  He was prepped and ready.

So far so good.  Just sitting in the X-Ray chair...

Being brave.  Not quite sure what they are doing, but Mommy thinks it's OK...

Getting a little nervous, but I have my headphones on!

Not into this at all, but I am NOT going to cry!

His sweet hands during the entire cleaning...

And he survived!  Thrilled to be done.  It's almost like accomplishing potty training.  All three of my boys can now go to the dentist's office without crying.

We have arrived.

Old Man

Every year the kindergarten celebrates the 100th day of school by dressing up as though you were 100 years old....

I think JLS will be a pretty stylin' 100 year-old man!

But I'd like to keep him at 6 years-old for awhile.  Six is good.

He Shaves

And at such a young age...

No prouder moment than when he stands next to Daddy and shaves.  (Yes, blade is removed.)
Cutie-pie.

Galveston Day Trip

We went to Galveston when we FIRST moved here.  I remember it well.  We were still living in Katy in an apartment and desperate to get OUT of the apartment on the weekends.  It was our anniversary, we didn't know a babysitter, so we decided to go check out Galveston.

This was the first time we returned since then...FIVE years ago?  How can time have flown so?

The boys loved it.  We went straight to the ferry to Bolivar Island.  It was pretty nippy for me!

And to the strip to La Kings Confectionery.  It is a good ole-fashioned general store that sells every type of sweet you can imagine: chocolates, cookies, shakes, homemade taffy being made in the back.  It's SO good!  As cold as it was, it didn't stop us from grabbing a yummy milkshake! What is it about a fat straw that makes it all taste better?

We HAD to make a run on the beach even if it was cold!

The poser...

We saw a couple cruise ships at the port...

And we even followed this one to the end of the island...the Disney Cruise Ship!

And, amazingly enough, we were still friends at the end of a crazy long day.

I love it when I catch these sweet moments before they go away!

Jam Session

JBS got an electric guitar AND guitar lessons for Christmas.  If JBS plays the guitar, of course, everyone else wants to be just like him.  It might be loud, but it is the best sight I have seen in a long time.  JBS on the electric guitar, JLS on Babe's acoustic guitar and none other than WHS on the Fisher Price.  Priceless.

Who knows?  Maybe they will actually be good and play in a band together?  At least earn some cash for college?  Wishful thinking...Either way, they sure are cute.

Tickled to Death

I was working in my work room one day when WHS came running to my room with a "giggle-yell."  He was laughing so hard and holding his tummy saying, "Mom!  You gotta come here!  You gotta come here!  Mom!  Come here!"  Seeing as how he was laughing, I didn't jump and run instantly.  He finally came in and said, "Mom!  You gotta see what Daddy is doing!"  And he ran back to my bedroom in hysterics.

By now, his running back and forth laughing with total amusement at what Daddy was doing, had piqued my interest.  What in the world could Babe be doing to have WHS in such an uproar.  So, I walked toward the bedroom.  WHS ran out of  the bedroom door and pointed at Babe laughing and desperately trying to show me what Daddy was doing.  I started laughing myself because WHS was so excited.  As I turned the corner, there he was.....exercising on the elliptical.

A sad state of affairs that WHS had no idea what that machine did that sat in our room.  And even funnier to him was to see Daddy actually using it.

Number Twenty-Three!

And right next to 3 year-old soccer is 9 year-old Flag Football.  JBS loves it...

JBS typically plays QB or wide receiver.  JBS doesn't know his own strength...

He can LAUNCH the ball down the field...

And he's great at receiving. This day happened to be one of the colder days in The Woods, so Momma didn't get a lot of good pictures running between two games.

Bottom line...everyone is happy! Woohoo!

Number Eight!

WHS has been discussing soccer for quite some time.  I thought I would hold him out of sports since we are already madly dashing for JBS and JLS' sports.  Then I thought, "How unfair!"  I have actually heard parents say that their third child didn't play sports because they didn't have the time.  I can't imagine that being a reason to not giving WHS the opportunity to play sports.

Well....we lucked out this time. JBS is playing flag football in the same league that WHS is playing soccer.  SO, we are on the same property AND their games even overlap a bit.  Bittersweet, but at least we get 2 games knocked out at once on our crazy Saturdays!

WHS always does the head nod...

WHS rarely touches the ball.  But, man, he loves to run up and down the field with a huge smile on his face!  Sometimes he runs and looks at me smiling and runs into the other kids....:)

My little squirt
The ball will come RIGHT to WHS and he hardly kicks it.

But he will run with the pack and chase the ball in its general direction...

Sweet toot is worn out every game.  He never stops running and maybe touches the ball 2-3 times.

WHS won the award for Humility this week :)

But he is having a blast and that's what is important!

Little Squirt

Of late, I have been very aware that JBS is growing up.  He is 9 and getting a little more sassy during daylight hours.  While still a snuggle-bug at night, I find myself wishing for bedtime so we can snuggle instead of my telling him what he needs to be doing that he's not.  Because of that, I think I am much more aware of WHS being the last of the babies in our house.  And what a "last" he his.  WHS makes a big imprint on this household and I truly cannot remember how peaceful our life was without him... :)

Every night, as I tuck WHS into bed, he likes to "dwive my caws on yor back, Mommy" and we talk about the day, the week...whatever comes out of his mouth, which is A LOT.  We always end with snuggles and prayers and we both are in complete bliss in those moments.

Because if his place in birth order, Babe calls everything "Little Willie" size.  Or when we go to the Rodeo, it 's a little "Willie Goat."   Anything small is "Willie Size" and I think he thinks the world calls things "Little Willie Sized."  He LOVES it when we watch Duck Dynasty and he hears the name, "Willie"...."That's me, Mommy!"  The world revolves around Willie.  As we were lying in bed the other night, we were discussing WHS' bedroom.  It is actually JLS' bedroom and WHS sleeps in it.  The big boys sleep in JBS' room in the bunk beds because no one wants to sleep with WHS.  He talks and talks and talks in the dark until he literally falls over asleep.  JBS and JLS want peace and quiet.

As we snuggled in for prayers, WHS said in the sweetest of voices, "Wuz dis Wookies bed when he was a wittle Willie?"

My heart melts over and over again with this child.  If only he could be 3 forever!
