The Beginning of Good-Bye's

When we returned from Fort Worth, we began the grueling process of packing up and saying our Good-Bye's.  So sad to leave such wonderful friends, but we knew that God had something big in store for us where we were going.

Good-Bye to my sweet tennis friends.

Last trip to Splash Town with all the buddies...

Last lunch at my favorite restaurant:  The Treehouse!

Good-Bye to our favorite Buc-ee!

Fun with friends...Brooks and JBS

ALL the boys...

JLS and ⅓ of the 3 L's!

WHS and his buddy Jason D.

Just cuties.  Love them so much.

It was a whirlwind week so we didn't have time to be sad.  The tears would come, but not this week.  We tried to go, see and do everything we could in the waking hours before we left.  I think we did a pretty good job of it.

Fort Worth: AT&T Stadium

I reserved tickets to get a tour of the new and quite impressive AT&T stadium.  When we arrived for the tour, my tickets were somehow for the NEXT weekend!  The weekend we would be in Kansas!  John flipped out, but as expected, they very sweetly accommodated us this weekend.  Tour and all.  We had three VERY HAPPY boys and two very impressed adults :) It was so cool because they included all the history of The Dallas Cowboys, including a mention of Clint Murchison, the original owner of the Cowboys.  My dad was a pilot for the Murchison Family when I was young.  It was fun hearing his name.

Preparing the stadium for the next event.  Taking down from a concert the weekend before.

The VERY LARGE Jumbotron...it alone cost $40 million.

In one of the boxes...

 In the press box...

Walked thru the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader locker room!

And the Football player's locker room...

We waited in line for this kid to get a pic on this stage...

Ground level...

At the feet of Tom Landry

The statistics for this stadium are mind boggling.  The sizes, the quantities, the costs.  Unbelievably gluttonous and out of control, but complete eye candy to anyone who enters.  Very awe-inspiring.  We said "Good-bye" to Daddy from here while he headed back to KC and we headed to Magnolia to start gearing up for our move.  {sigh}

Fort Worth: TCU

Next stop, my favorite Texas Christian University.  I can't even say enough for how TCU has gotten better and better even since I was there.  Since the big Rose Bowl win for the Frogs, TCU has poured a bunch of money into the school and its surrounding area.  Just amazing.  Who WOULDN'T want to go here?

\

We dropped some change at the TCU Bookstore

We wanted to see the new stadium.  To our surprise, the gates were unlocked and we walked right out on the field.  The boys were VERY impressed.

The practice tower

Throwing the ball a little on the field...

Running out of the tunnel...

On the 50!

The NEW Pi Phi House.  They hadn't even moved in yet.

We rubbed the nose for luck!

Luke and I had to use the restroom and stumbled into the fitness center....THIS is the fitness center for the students!!

We had SO MUCH FUN at TCU.  They have changed so much, I even got lost for a bit missing building to get my bearings.  Everything they have done was done top notch.  Hoping one of my boys gets to go there some day.  But with that, we will be hoping for a scholarship!

Fort Worth Family Road Trip: Cowtown

When we found out we were moving, I instantly thought of all the little weekend trips I planned to take with the boys around Texas that we never took.  Fort Worth, being my favorite town was at the top of the list.  I wanted to take the boys to see TCU, eat lunch one last time at Joe T's, go out in downtown and see the cattle drive in Cowtown.  The very last weekend before we moved, I got a hotel and the boys and I headed to Ft Worth.  John was bored in KC alone, so he drove to Ft Worth and made a weekend out of it with us.  We had so much fun.  There's just so much to do in and around Dallas and Fort Worth.  We got a few things checked off the bucket list!

First stop Cowtown.  Fort Worth has historical Stock Yards that, even in college, we had so much fun going out down there.  Crazy to think I walked down these very streets in college only to see my boys standing under the Stock Yards sign years later.  If these streets could talk :)

Every Saturday they reenact the cattle drive through Cowtown for the tourists.  We have stopped through Fort Worth several times on our way to Gambo and Poppy's house, but never at the right time to see the cattle drive.

I am fascinated by the big old longhorn bulls.  How they balance those big horns on their head, I have no idea.  Clearly, they need a big open prairie to move around!

I always love the Fort Worth police logo.  While never IN one of those cars, they were a staple around Fort Worth.

Checking out the western museum

And one of my favorite old bars in Cowtown.  Only Cowtown can love a place called FILTHY MCNASTY'S :)
